Thursday
evening I went to a seminar called Super Sprouting. I have sprouted for years
off and on, and I know the amazing benefits of eating raw living foods like
sprouts. I knew I needed to get re-inspired to start sprouting again, and even
though I have been in the natural medicine business for more than 30 years, I
know that there is always more to learn, and I am always open to learning
something new.
One
of the facilitators, Tony Hornick developed the best and easiest sprout grower
I have ever seen. It is designed to build up humidity for fast growth, has no
corners to allow parasites, fungi to grow, easy to clean and makes sprouting
extremely safe and easy.
Tony
announced cheerfully that he is 82 years old, goes out dancing 3 times a week,
and is in excellent health and one of his secrets is eating sprouts every day.
The other 2 secrets he swears by are drinking good water and dancing.I was very inspired by Tony's knowledge,
energy, and passion for health and wellness.
I
loved how he explained the nutritional power of sprouts, "Seeds and Beans are
mothers. They are wombs that bear a
child. The day a baby sprout is born is the healthiest day of its life. That is
the day to eat a sprout. Sprouts are nature's multi-vitamin pills, and their
high nutritional value is developed naturally by nature and God."
All
sprouts have a high level of disease preventing phytochemicals, including
natural powerful enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and plant proteins. Sprouts are
really much more than a "super food" they are a "wonder food" that God has
given us. I often tell my patients the best foods to eat are foods that look
the way God made it. Once we have processed, added chemicals, cooked, dried,
canned, boxed, modified our food, it loses Gods valuable nutrition and no
longer serves as nutrition for the body. In fact, these artificial manmade
foods can and often does become toxic to our physical bodies. This is what
causes dis-ease in the body.
Scientists
have studied sprouts for centuries. Major organizations, including the National
Institutes of Health, American Cancer Society and Johns Hopkins University have
reinforced the benefits of sprouts with ongoing studies that investigate
various sprout varieties for their nutritional properties and to validate
health claims.
Sprouts
are a very low priced source of very highly nutritious foods and can be grown
indoors on a table or countertop. You do not need a sunny window, the sprouts
will still grow. I have one patient with a very large family (6 children) who
cannot afford to buy lots of fresh organic vegetables for his family. Growing
sprouts is how he feeds his family. His family loves being self sufficient and
having control over their own food supply. All of them know how it feels to get
good nutrition; and to feel healthy, most people do not know that feeling. The
whole family is all very healthy, energetic and clever. The freshness, high
nutritional value, and low cost are what most of us are looking for now in our
economy.Try sprouting today.
