PRECEPTS
Don't Be Afraid;
Just Believe
We are hard pressed on every side…
Today we are all confronted with hard pressed issues…

Lost of Jobs
Lost of Finances
Home Foreclosures
Divorces
Deaths of Loved Ones
Hurricanes
Tsunamis'
Earthquakes
Wars

But in all of this…
There is something that The Lord is telling us that we have to be fortified in. The Lord is telling us, we have to be strengthened in this…
We are shouting, dancing, and running our saved sanctified selves around in church but it is eluding us. In so many cases this entity is eluding us….

What am I speaking of? I'm talking about FAITH!
The Bible says in Hebrews 11:1 that "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen". KJV
So, what does that mean?
Is simply wishing for something that you don't have yet, Faith?  Faith is first believing that God exist. Hebrews 11:6 says, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

There is no Faith without God. Read Mark 5:21-42

So we see that Jairus was a synagogue ruler or leader. We know from scripture that these people were against Jesus and His teaching. A synagogue ruler or leader was one who taught the Law. But Jesus came and fulfilled the Law…not abolish the Law but fulfill it.
But the synagogue rulers did not understand this. However, Jairus did. Jairus was desperate and he knew that there was something different about Jesus.

Desperation will cause you to question what you were originally taught, especially if it is no longer working for you.
Jairus daughter was sick. She was so sick she was dying.
When you have a love one who is dying…you are desperate to find something or someone to get them well.
Jairus was desperate to find someone to help his daughter. And he sought Jesus. The Bible says in Hebrews 11:6, that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

So Jairus was Desperate.

And Jairus was Diligent.

But look what happens after Jairus seeks out Jesus…
He finds Jesus and ask Him to come and Jesus starts to go with him. But wait now some woman comes up to Jesus and touches Him and she is healed. Now Jarius must have been fit to be tied.
Jairus had to be thinking, "But, I'm waiting on Jesus to come with me to heal my daughter from dying and He stops to heal someone else?
You know you would have been thinking this too. I know I would have been. How many of us are just like that…
We are waiting on our prayers to be answered and while we are waiting…Jesus is blessing everyone else around us
You are waiting for that job and your unemployment has just run out but…Someone else just got a new job…You are waiting on that husband but…Someone else just got engaged…Am I right about it?

Jesus is on his way with Jairus, so He has promised to go with Jairus. But, Jesus is Delayed. The promise is Delayed.

But while Jarius is waiting for Jesus to finish up with this woman, someone comes from his house and tells him his daughter has died. While Jesus was delayed…Jarius daughter died. Jarius sought after Jesus. He found Jesus and Jesus was on His way with Jarius, but got delayed and his daughter died. But watch what the someone said to Jairus after he reported that his daughter died. He said, why bother the teacher anymore. Isn't that like some people we know…They not only bring the bad news they tell you no longer bother finding a solution. They bring death to what you are believing God for and cause you to Doubt.

Jarius had to be now doubting Jesus. But Thanks be to God, Jesus steps in and tells Jairus don't be afraid…just believe. What? We can only imagine what Jairus must have been thinking at this point. But they continue on to Jairus house…When they get to there they are met by a bunch of people causing a commotion. They are crying and wailing and carrying on but when Jesus tells them that the girl is not dead…When Jesus tells them that the situation is not hopeless…what do these people do?

They laugh. Wait now weren't they just crying? Now they're laughing? See how fickle people can be? And Jesus knowing this, dismisses these people from the house. They were probably wearing Jesus' last nerve. He does this because doubt strangles faith. Remember when Jesus did not do many miracles in His home town? It was because of their deliberate unbelief.

The Holy Spirit gave me a statement many years ago…He said, "God blesses to the degree in which you believe."

Faith is a fight. The Bible tells us to Fight the good fight of Faith. Be careful who you surround yourself with…Be careful who you have pray for you…Be careful who you tell of what God has promised you. If they are not standing in Faith with you, their unbelief can squelch your faith.

After Jesus dismisses the people, who are left, are the disciples who came with him, and the little girl's parents. Then Jesus deals with just the girl. He speaks just to her and tells her to get up! She is then delivered! When God speaks, it's done! The Bible says, she immediately got up.

But before Jesus even spoke to the girl, remember what He told the commotion of people who were crying and wailing…He said that she was not dead, she was just asleep. It was done then. In fact, it was done when Jairus sought after Jesus.

So let's recap…

  • Jarius was Desperate for Jesus
  • He had a need
  • His daughter was at the point of death
  • It's the same for us
  • We have our needs as well
  • We should be desperate for Jesus
  • And take our needs to him
  • Jarius Diligently sought Jesus
  • And Jesus was found
  • When we diligently seek Jesus, he will be found
  • Remember He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him
  • The promise was Delayed
  • But it was not denyed
  • He may not come when you want Him but He is always right on time
  • Jarius began to Doubt
  • He was toldby a naysayer that his daughter had died
  • Jesus told him not to doubt, but to believe
  • Doesn't this happen to us when we think our dreams have died
  • God tells us not to doubt…believe, have FAITH
  • Jesus Dismisses the next group of naysayers
  • They were the ones who were crying, wailing and carrying on
  • God may have to dismiss some people from our lives
When someone's part in your story is over. Turn the page! Stop trying 2 to stretch the chapter into a book. Everyone is not meant to stay.
If God dismisses them, let them go

And then Finally…Jesus Delivers

Faith is the conviction of truth without tangible proof.

Faith is believing the Word of God and taking God at His Word.

God promised never to leave us or forsake us. Believe Him.

Faith is when you have no basis for your victory But the Word of God.

Jesus Says, "Don't Be Afraid." Just Believe!"

Amen!
