Since Thanksgiving is almost upon us, I thought that I'd write about giving thanks. The act of saying what it is you are especially thankful for, not only for this year, but having everyday thanks would be appropriate. First and foremost, I give thanks to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for saving and doing for me the things I thought were impossible.
I give thanks for giving me good health and peace of mind. I give thanks to Him for allowing me to spread the gospel through this amazing online Christian magazine.

If you are reading this be thankful that you can read because the illiteracy rate in the United States is high with almost a million people a year being added to the list of those considered clinically illiterate (education-portal.com). Be thankful you woke up this morning to see the sunrise and to hear the birds chirping; you are seeing and hearing God's beautiful creation. A lot of people can't see it or hear it or did not even wake up this morning, so be thankful.Be thankful that you slept in a warm bed last night with a roof over your head. I work for the New York City Transit Authority and during the midnight hours the trains are considerably crowded. This is because most of the people riding at this time are homeless. They ride the trains all night for warmth because they do not have a roof over their heads and a place to sleep. If you do, you ought to be thankful.

Be thankful for lacking knowledge and knowing that you do, for this gives you the opportunity to seek knowledge and learn. Be thankful for trials and tribulations. It is in those difficult times that you grow and learn to trust God. Be thankful for the challenges that you face. It is these challenges that will build your strength and character. Be thankful for setbacks. It is easy to praise God for the good things. A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for their setbacks. Be thankful for your troubles. When trouble comes gratitude can turn that negative into a positive. Find a way to be thankful for your troubles and they can become your blessings.

I am so thankful for the hope that God has placed in me. It keeps me going and striving to be the Christian that God wants me to be. I have so much to thank God for. He gives me that inner peace because I believe and trust in Him. I know that He will walk with me from here to eternity because I live for Him. So my brothers and sisters, we must have thanksgiving in our hearts because every day is about giving thanks for who He is and forgiving us His grace and mercy, every single day. Amen.
